We have had another wonderful week in Year 2 and as well as working incredibly hard, we have thought about the importance of Harvest. The children shared their ideas about where our food comes from and the journey it takes before reaching our mouths and tummies! We thought about how lucky we are to have plenty to eat and we wrote our own special Harvest 'Thank You' leaves for our Harvest tree in the hall. Reverend Ian came to lead a special Harvest assembly and he explained to us that our tins of food will be donated to a local food bank to help others. Thank you for all your generous donations and 10 pence pieces.
In Maths this week, the children have been working very hard in their Maths groups to partition numbers. We feel far more confident now discussing the number of tens and units in a 2 digit number and we hope that this week's homework will consolidate the children's knowledge even further.
In English, we have been continuing with Read, Write, Inc as well as recounting our trip to the White Horse. The children have been thinking carefully about the key features of recount writing and have practised using past tense verbs, noun phrases, conjunctions and wonderful exclamations in their writing.
We look forward to sharing the children's work with you at Parents Evening next Wednesday and Thursday (11th and 12th October). If you have not yet managed to sign up for a consultation, please speak with the T.A on the door or with ourselves as we would love to see as many of you as possible.
