We have enjoyed another great week in Dolphin Class, preparing for our trip to Westbury White Horse. We thought about the kinds of materials that would be the most suitable (and unsuitable) for making our own kites, before designing them in our sketch books. We had some great ideas and decided that the kite material needed to be waterproof (just in case!!), strong and light. Mrs Rockey visited Wiltshire Scrapstore and found some balloon fabric which some of us decided to use, whilst others chose bin bag liners as these seemed to fit the brief very nicely! We are going to evaluate the success of our kites in flight next week! Watch this space for photographs from the trip......
Also, this week, in the mornings, the children have been changing classrooms and getting used to their new teaching groups for English and Maths. It is a lovely way for them to experience being taught by all of the Year 2 teachers, as well as provide them with a chance to mix with different friends and social groups. We have been very proud of the children as they have adapted to this quickly, sensibly and with maturity.
In the afternoons, the children have been working in three key groups to develop their skills across other curriculum areas, including Science, Geography, History, Art and DT. The children have been working in both guided groups with the Teacher or TA, as well as independently, applying key skills to a range of activities.
