Welcome to Year 2- we are thrilled to be back!
The children have had a fantastic week settling into their new classroom and have been a delight to teach. They are demonstrating how sensible, hard working and mature they are, especially now that they are the oldest children at Westbury Infant School. We are confident that we are going to have a very happy year ahead of us all :-)
This week, we have been finding out about dolphins and have written some facts about them. Did you know that a dolphin is in fact a mammal, it has a blow-hole for breathing, a melon for communication and also its dorsal fin helps it to steer? We have our own class dolphin mascot, which we have named 'Moonlight'. We will be sending Moonlight home with the chosen Star of the Week every Friday to be cared for. We know that the children will have some super adventures with Moonlight and we hope that they will draw, write, or even add photographs in our 'Dolphin Diary' to tell us about the fun they have enjoyed together. We would ask that Moonlight is returned each Friday ready for the next Star of the Week to enjoy please.
We are inviting parents along to a 'Meet the Teacher' session on Friday 15th September at 2.30pm to find out a little bit more about being in Dolphin Class and Year 2. This will take place in your child's classroom and it will be a chance for you to talk to us and ask any questions that you may have, as well as acting as an opportunity for us to share information with you about the year ahead. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.
