This week the children have been using our amazing farm experience to inform their learning. We started off the week thinking about our favourite part of the trip and it was great that the children really thought about their ideas and told us them using full sentences. This really helped them when they wrote their sentences in their books.
We looked at photos of the human and physical features of the farm and sorted them. The children were really good at discussing the impact people have on the natural part of the farm. They talked about enjoying running across the fields and climbing inside the 500 year old tree. Everyone agreed that on a farm lots of things have been made by people and we also talked about what each one was for. We handed out quite a few Amethyst gems as the children were working really well together in a bigger group.
The children are also really getting stuck in with their Rainbow Challenges and taking responsibility for their learning. Some of the things they got busy doing this week were making a play dough model of a farm animal, making a lego farm and map it and playing a game with a friend.
We finished the week in the ICT suite using Paint it to create pictures of farm animals. There were some wonderful pictures and the children are starting to get much better with their mouse control.
Next Tuesday is our Harvest Assembly in school. Please send in donations of 'tins and 10p' with your child on the day. Here's to another busy and fun week of learning!
