At the start of our new topic, Food, Glorious, Food, in Reception we had Pancake Friday. We had learnt about Shrove Tuesday and have been listening to the story of the Runaway Pancake. Today the children made Pancake pictures, enjoyed Pancake/Egg and Spoon races, then the best thing was making pancakes.
As a part of our Food, Glorious, Food topic today we were fortunate to have Professor Marshall come in and do Science with us. We explored how strong the egg shells were, using bricks, Kg weights and bags of sugar. It was surprising to see how many bags of sugars could be placed on the egg shells before they smashed.
Welcome back to a new term. In Honey Bees our topic is Food, Glorious, Food.
We are planning a visit to a local supermarket, to see behind the scenes.
A lot of our activities will be based around stories, like the Gingerbread Man, the Magic Porridge Pot and The Little Red Hen. Our role-play in our class is a Healthy Eating Café.
On Thursday 22nd the children will be scientists and find out all about how strong egg shells.
Again the Honey Bees have been busy learning. This week a lot of activities were connected to measure, first height and length and later in the week weight. There was a team work as we worked together to use the bricks to build a house with the bricks.
We are finishing off the work for our All around the World Exhibition - come and see our work on Thursday.
Well done Honey Bees class! Despite having different teachers this week you continued to learn well. Miss Jones was glad to see you again on Friday and was pleased to hear you had tried hard during the week.
The learning continued with our topic "Animals around the world". The travels and writing in the role-play look exciting. In Maths the focus has been adding and later finding halves. There was great maths around the room, including at the water tray finding halves.
Welcome to a 2018. We have had a busy first week at school.
We have started our new topic, Animals around the world, beginning by exploring with globes and enjoying the journey of the "snail and the whale", as they travelled around the world.
On Thursday we had the opportunuity to going to a colder country, with a dance workshop, when we did Russian Dancing.
On Friday we had an amazing time when ZooLab came to school with creatures from around the world.
This week the children told the Nativity with songs and words through their performance of Christmas Counts. I am sure it made lots of families proud.
Also, during the week the children have continued to practise counting counting through Christmas activities and have been busy writing.
Take a look at some of our learning through photographs.
Don't forget our Carol Service is at the church on Tuesday, followed by Christmas dinner.
On Wednesday the children can come wear their own clothes, as it is our party in the afternoon.
This week we have been practising for our Nativity play Christmas Counts. We have been learning our words, songs and have been on the stage. On Friday we put on our costumes for the first time.
