Welcome back to our final term of the year when we will enjoy finding out about our local area, Wonderful Westbury.
We began our topic with a fantastic trip planned to the Westbury White Horse. The day was due to be filled with fun games, exciting kite flying, enjoying the fantastic view across the landscape, observational drawings, poetry writing, bug hunting, picnics and lots more.
However unfortunately we couldn't predict our wonderful British weather and on the day of our trip it rained and rained and rained and then rained some more!!
The trip definitely helped the children to develop resilience, determination, perseverance, improvisation and how to make the best of a challenging situation.
They did attempt to fly the kites they had made although they got soggy and wet and unfortunately did not fly. They went for a rain walk and saw wonderful Westbury through rain filled eyes and soaking clothes. The highlight was enjoying being followed by a baby lamb searching for, and eventually finding its mum.
Needless to say the trip was cut short and the rest of the day was enjoyed by having an indoor picnic, disco and lots of creative model making of white horses, hot air balloons and lots more. It may not have been the trip that was planned but it did turn out to be an enjoyable and memorable day, full of wonderful learning opportunities.
