Thank you to all of our wonderful grandparents and great grandparents who were able to come in and work with us during our open afternoon on Friday. We had such a lovely time searching for clues on the trim trail, answering pirate questions and working out the scrambled pirate word. The orienteering skills of our grandparents were very impressive! The children really enjoyed working alongside their grandparents and were keen to share what they have learnt about pirates this term, which was a delight to see.
We hope that your children's teeth are still in one piece after they made 'Hardtack biscuits' (the sort that were eaten by pirates) in English. The children had to follow a recipe carefully and understand instructional writing. The biscuits were very hard and tasted disgusting. How awful it must have been to snack on these at sea!
