To continue our topic on Superheroes we have been finding out about a real superhero this week. We watched a film about Florence Nightingale and found out how she helped to turn hospitals from filthy, rat-infested places, where people died from infection, into the clean and hygienic places that we are more familiar with today. We discussed how standing up for what we believe in can be a heroic thing to do, especially when others may not agree with us.
In Maths, we have been looking for patterns and using our known number facts to help us solve mental addition and subtraction problems. Some of us have tried to prove why calculations are correct/incorrect and we have tried to explain how we know. This has been quite challenging!
What a fun end to another busy week! The children spent the afternoon out on the trim trail celebrating our good Ofsted report. We enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch in the sunshine, played games with friends, danced to music and had the opportunity to play on the Big Red Fun Bus (a mobile soft play centre in a double decker bus). A great time was had by all!
Our new spellings should have come home this evening. Please help your child to learn these ready for a test next week. The abacus homework for this week is called Balloon Pop. Any problems logging on, please don't hesitate to ask.
