On Monday, during our science lesson, we learnt about the fire triangle. We found out that in order for a fire to burn you need fuel, oxygen and heat. We investigated what happens when you remove one of the three elements and we discovered that the fire goes out. During our investigations we predicted what would happen to three tea lights when you place different sized jars over them. We shared our ideas before carrying out the experiment. We discovered that the tea light in the small jar went out first. When asked why this had happened, the children explained that it was because the small jar holds the least oxygen and that the flame used up this oxygen quickly.
During design and technology we used different materials to make our own alien shadow puppets. Using the materials that we had planned to use during last week's investigation, we designed and made our puppets. Some of us found that the materials we had chosen were good for making interesting shadows but were not very strong and were therefore not good materials to use for making puppets.
On Thursday we wrote descriptions about our alien puppets. We used adjectives to make our sentences more interesting.
