Welcome to our new blog!  We hope to share all the wonderful things we are learning about in Y1/2.

  • Friday 2 December 2022 Friday 2nd December 2022 It has been an exciting week with the magical appearance of our Kindness Elf and lots of Christmas decorations in our classroom and across the school. However that definately hasn't stopped the Ladybirds working super hard!

  • Friday 18 November 2022 Friday 18th November 2022 It has been a really busy week and the children have really thrown themselves into the learning!
  • Friday 11 November 2022 Friday 11th November 2022 What a busy week of learning the lovely Ladybirds have had! Not only have they been working their socks off in school doing their Read Write Inc, Maths and topic, but they have also been on exciting adventures!

  • Friday 14 October 2022 Friday 14th October 2022 Another super busy week of learning for the Ladybird children. It was lovely to finish off the week with a visit to church to celebrate Harvest. A wonderful way to end the week with joyful singing!
  • Friday 7 October 2022 Friday 7th October 2022 Ladybirds What a busy week we have had in Ladybirds. As well as the usual RWI, Maths, Topic, PE, Computing, Music and Life Skills, we also managed to fit in school trips!
  • Friday 30 September 2022 Friday 30th September 2022 This has been another super busy week in Ladybird Class. The children started the week with our Discothon. It was great fun dancing through the day and the children still worked really hard!
  • Friday 23 September 2022 Friday 23rd September 2022 The Ladybird children have worked their socks off this week! They have been amazing for Mrs Miller, Miss McMillan and Mrs Macfarlane. We have all been very impressed with them and there has been lots of children in the Celebration book, getting gems and silver and gold cards!

  • Friday 15 July 2022 Friday 15th July - Scootability and Water fights! Ladybird class have had lots of fun this week. The children really enjoyed Scootability where they learnt how to safely stop on their scooters using 3 different techniques, how to ride safely along pavements, politely avoid pedestrians and identifying moving cars.
  • Friday 8 July 2022 Friday 8th July This week in Maths, we have been learning about position and direction. The children had great fun going over, under, around, next to, behind their obstacle courses. We also started our new Art topic about screen printing and have been learning about Andy Warhol.
  • Friday 1 July 2022 Friday 1st July - Colour run We have had a busy week in Ladybirds this week. In maths we have been consolidating learning around place value. The children have also learnt about points of the compass in Geography.
  • Friday 24 June 2022 Friday 24th June - Warminster Park and Sports Day! Wow what a busy week we have had. I think the Ladybirds might sleep well this weekend!Not only did we go on our wonderful Warminster Park trip - where we took the train and took a wonderful walk (in the glorious sunshine!) looking at all the human and physical features, not to mention having an absolute blast on the splash pad! But we were also lucky enough to have a brilliant Sports Day too! I hope you all enjoy the photographs and have a lovely restful weekend!
  • Friday 17 June 2022 Friday 17th June - Fun Friday Ladybirds have had a lovely week this week. We have been exploring all things Summer in Science, we had a look at how the days get longer and all of the lovely things we get to do through out the seasons.
  • Friday 10 June 2022 Friday 10th June - Into our last term! We welcomed back Ladybirds on Monday and had a wonderful PE session, moving like woodland creatures and the Ladybirds made a wonderful worm train!! They used there core strength to be able to wiggle around the hall.
  • Friday 27 May 2022 Friday 27th May - Jubilee Holiday! What a wonderful week we have had celebrating the Queens Jubilee! Butterflies have learnt about the queens coronation and that she is celebrating 70 years on the throne!
  • Friday 20 May 2022 Friday 20th May - Bobbing at Buckingham! This week, Ladybirds have been continuing with time during maths, we have covered 'time words', before after, yesterday, tomorrow, next week, in a year, first, second and last ect, we have also covered o'clock, half past and started to explore seconds, minutes, hours, day, week, month and what this means in relation to time.
  • Friday 13 May 2022 Friday 13th May - Sunny Sevington Ladybirds have had a wonderful week this week, we have been learning all about Time in Maths and have been in class for writing and speed sounds in place of RWI - and gosh, what wonderful writing it was! Well done Ladybirds.However, the main event of the week was our trip to Sevington, and what a wonderful time we had! The children got the opportunity to write with slate as well as with ink and ink pens. The girls made lavander bags and did some polishing, whilst the boys went and did some gardening and made bee's wax candles. We had a lovely lunch out in the garden area followed by some good old Victorian fun and games during playtime!
  • Friday 6 May 2022 Friday 6th May - Another lovely week! We have had a lovely week this week in Ladybirds! To start the week we made pictures of Menorah retold the story behind Hanukah, we came up with some fantastic actions! Later on in the week we started our new Topic on Schools. The children have really enjoyed learning about how strict the teachers were 100 years ago, and how the children used to learn and write. Today we picked our own Victorian names ready for our trip to Sevington on Tuesday. In Maths this week we have been exploring and learning all about quarters or shapes and quantities.
  • Friday 29 April 2022 Friday 29th April - Hello Ladybirds! We have had a lovely first week back! Ladybirds have been exploring halves of shapes and quantities in Maths and in Topic we have been exploring the Human Body and our senses! Next week we will be starting our very exciting History topic on Schools!We still need parent helpers for our trip to Sevington, Tuesday 10th May - All day, so if you are available to come along and help us we would be very grateful! Miss Lester.
  • Friday 8 April 2022 Friday 8th April - Happy Easter Well done Ladybirds what a wonderful end to our term! The ladybirds really enjoyed seeing the Easter Bunny and hunting for their eggs - despite the fact we ended up in the hall because of the rain!
  • Friday 1 April 2022 Friday 1st April - Super Week! It was lovely to be back with the lovely Ladybirds this week, they have done so much wonderful work, and have been super helpful and kind! Well done Ladybirds!
  • Friday 18 March 2022 Friday 18th March - Phototastic! What a wonderful week we have had in Ladybirds, from aspiring Historians exploring SS Great Britain on Tuesday, learning all about the different areas of the ship and how the different classes would have travelled, not to mention that the ships wheel is at the back of the ship and you steer the wheel stood next to it - who knew!
  • Thursday 10 March 2022 Thursday 10th March This week in Ladybirds, we have been continuing our Isambard Kingdom Brunel topic, the children have loved exploring and learning all about his career as an engineer and are really looking forward to the school trip on Tuesday!We have also been continuing our measuring topic in Maths, but have now moved on to weight and mass, where the children got to use balance scales.
  • Friday 4 March 2022 Friday 4th March - Welcome back! Welcome back Ladybirds. What a busy first week we have had. We have been Mathematicians, characters from all realms and fairytales as well as Historians!We started the week, learning about how to measure length and height, using both non-standard units of measure and learning how to accurately measure using a ruler. We started our new history topic - Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the famous engineer, and of course had a fantastically fun day on world book day, where the children got to take part in a special dace workshop.

  • Friday 28 January 2022 Friday 28th January In Ladybirds class this week, we have been very busy reviewing our number bonds and fact families to 20 in preparation to moving on to numbers to 50 next week! They have also been continuing their Geography topic and exploring Scotland and Wales! We also started a new Computing topic and had lots of fun exploring our new app Book Creator, where in the coming weeks we will be creating our own non-fiction books all about the 4 countries we have been learning about in Geography.Well done Ladybirds for another fantastic week!
