Friday 11th March 2022

Wow another week has flown by as we looked at the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’. The children are learning to retell this story by heart and have enjoyed making puppets to aid their story telling. The children had the opportunity to make bread this week just like the Little Red Hen. The children enjoyed eating their warm bread rolls.

In maths, this week, the children have been learning about the numbers nine and ten. As part of the learning the children went on a hunt for pictures that represented the number 9. Then we investigated what 10 looked like on a tens frame and played the game race to 10. On Friday the children enjoyed a game of Bingo looking at the number of objects they could see in a picture and then crossing off the corresponding number on their board if it matched.

As part of our RE learning the children went off on a walk around the school looking for the signs of spring. The children could recall their learning and point out the different signs such as blossom on the tree or flowers growing.

On Friday, the children had the opportunity to show off their hats in a special assembly and then we were very fortunate to have a dance workshop. The children worked with the dance teacher to perform a routine linked to the story of the very hungry caterpillar. Later in the day all the reception children performed to each other. It was amazing to see the different parts of the routine come together as one dance.
