Friday 23rd September

We’ve had another amazing week in Dragonflies! The children have had a wonderful time showing off their creative skills by creating family pictures and creating self-portraits using different media. The children have loved talking to each other about their families and enjoyed listening to the story, ‘All kinds of Families’. Take a look at our fantastic family pictures below:

This week we have progressed with learning even more sounds! The children have started to practice blending sounds in words using the magnetic boards. If you would like to support your child at home don’t forget to look at the RWI blog with links to videos that will help your child with their phonic knowledge.

These videos are really helpful and will ensure that your child consolidates their understanding of each sound. We looked at the sounds ‘I’,’n’,’p’ and ‘g’. We are teaching the children to use their pure sounds – This video is really helpful:

In our maths this week, we have had lots of fun learning about the number one. The children enjoyed watching Numberblocks and finding out about the number one. As part of our learning we looked at the size of different objects and whether size mattered when we had one object. The children went on a hunt to show one of something and the children found all different sized objects that still represented one. We sorted a group of objects into one and not one. At the end of the week the children really enjoyed creating their very own one town with only one of each thing. Take a look at the pictures to see some of our fun maths learning:

We have another fun filled week planned starting with a Discothon on Monday. Don’t forget your child can come in party clothes. Then for the rest of the week we will be learning about ‘People who help us’. If you would like to come and chat about your job we would love to have you visit the class. Please see myself or Miss Adlam to arrange a convenient time.

We still need some parent helpers for the visit to Bath if you are available please let myself or Miss Adlam know.
