Friday 26th March Spectacular Science!

PE  CLUBS

Thank you to all the children who have returned their club forms. We are pleased to say that if you are one of the children who have, you have been given your first choice. If you have not sent your form back yet, it is not too late. Please pop it back into school. If you have lost your letter, please ask for a new one from Mrs Macfarlane or Mrs Kerbey at the gate. We will come out with a supply!

This week we have been really busy learning about Plants in Science. We went on a walk around our trim trail and looked for Evergreen and Deciduous tress. We drew a map of the plants and trees we found. Everyone looked really closely at the detail of them and found lots of new buds growing.

We drew and labelled the parts of a flower. It was fabulous to hear how much the children have learnt about what a plant needs to grow. We used this knowledge to help us plant our own bean seed. We will be looking after them to see how tall our beans plants can grow.

Finally we looked at pictures of all the different plants and flowers that we might find in our gardens and on walks. The children were wonderful at making links with prior learning. They were able to remember that daffodils were the flower of Wales, Roses were England's national flower and that a thistle was the flower of Scotland. Great work Hedgehogs!

As well as all this wonderful Science learning we have also been busy in RWI and Maths. Again it is wonderful to see how the children are making links with their learning. They are starting to use their sounds in their writing in the afternoons. This is something that can be practiced at home!

In Maths we have been doing more adding of numbers to 20.

A super busy week Hedgehogs. Well done!
