Westbury Infant School and Resource Base

History of our School

We believe that the early years at school lay the foundations for successful learning through life.

We give great attention to developing social and communication skills.

Our main priorities are teaching all our children to read, write and to be numerate.
Our children achieve their best when they are fully engaged in their learning, secure in their environment and challenged to explore and improve themselves.

The main building houses ten teaching areas. We have four recently purpose built classrooms which are amazing areas to learn in.  The original open-plan design has been modified and each pair of classrooms now shares an extra carpeted area which can be used for a variety of purposes. There is a large hall which is used for PE; music, dance and drama; as a dining room; and for assemblies and events including the Christmas plays.

Disabled access - the school has wheelchair access to the main areas of the school, a dedicated disabled parking space, a disabled toilet. The school is a one storey building which has some disabled facilities and toilets. There are changing facilities and a changing bed in the Resource Base. Ramped wheelchair access is available into some classrooms

Westbury Laverton Infants School was originally built by the Laverton family who owned the cloth mills in Westbury.

Westbury Laverton Infants School was originally built by the Laverton family who owned the cloth mills in Westbury. It moved from Bratton Road when the present building was opened in 1971.

The name of the school was changed in 1992 to Westbury County Infants, and in 1999, when it became a Community School, to Westbury Infant School.

Our school logo shows the Angel Mill so that we remember the connection with the Laverton family.
