What a busy week of learning the lovely Ladybirds have had! Not only have they been working their socks off in school doing their Read Write Inc, Maths and topic, but they have also been on exciting adventures!

Year One had a fabulous time visiting the SS Great Britain in Bristol. After spending the last two weeks learning all about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, it was a real treat to visit one of the amazing ships he built. The children were amazed by the size of the ship. The best bit was when they went 'under the water' and walked around the iron hull of the ship and saw the rudder. It was massive! All the grown ups were super proud of how beautifully behaved the children were! Well done Year One.

Year Two headed off to the Holbourne Museum in Bath. They have been finding out about the life and works of Thomas Gainsborough and got to see some of his actual paintings. One of them was absolutely massive. All the children agreed that it must have taken a very long time for him to paint. We even found out that he painted over his original painting to add the couple's daughter and update their clothes. The children enjoyed designing wigs and creating collage portraits.

Year Two also explored the grounds around the museum, where they found the Great Western Railway! They were thrilled as they learnt about Isambard Kingdom Brunel last year, and our lovely Year Ones are learning about him now! The grown ups were so proud of how the children took part in all the activities. Well done Year Two!

What a busy fun filled week. Well done children. Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week.
