Welcome back!  We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and we all wish you a very happy New Year!

We have had a lovely week in Bumblebees.  The children have settled quickly back into routine and have all demonstrated great determination and resilience; trying really hard with all their work.  We are all very proud of them!

In maths this week, we have been learning our number bonds to 10 or 20 or finding equal groups.  We had to work systematically, using counters and tens frames, in order to find all the possible ways.  It was quite tricky but we managed it!

In English, we have been reading the story of the 'Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig' and making comparisons to the more well-known story of 'The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf'.  We made our own finger puppets and used these to retell the story.  We have also extended our sentences using 'and' or 'but' and have looked at apostrophes for possession.  Take a look at our puppets below.

In science, we are learning about materials and their properties.  We went on a materials hunt around the school and thought about the suitability of materials for different objects.  We decided that a hammer made from glass would be a really silly idea because it would smash when you used it!  We have also thought about how materials can be changed and carried out a little experiment to find out which materials could be changed easily and which were more difficult to change.

In music, we are learning to rap.  We had great fun learning the words and  added actions to help us keep in time.  Next week, we will polish and perform our rap.

Just a little reminder, PE is now on Wednesday and Friday.

Have a lovely weekend!
