Friday 17th November

The week seems to have flown by in Bumblebee Class with lots of fun had by all!

Our older children have had a busy fact finding week in English learning all about penguins, where they live and how they keep themselves warm. They designed their own habitat for a pet and wrote some fantastic facts about penguins.

In math's the children have been focusing on the language more, less and equal to compare numbers in both practical problems and word problems. The children were fantastic at remembering that the crocodile always eats the biggest numbers, using the correct language and symbols to show their understanding. Super problem solving was seen by all!

In science the children looked at the basic needs of humans and what we need to survive. They linked this with creating their own habitat for a pet. In music this week the children learnt some songs and designed their very own musical instruments. They were very creative and they cant wait to create these next week.

Next week our older children will go on their next school trip to Bristol Aquarium. They will need full school uniform with comfortable shoes and a small backpack to carry their lunch. All children will be provided with a school pack lunch but you may wish to provide your own. We will leave and return within school time.

For our younger learners they have had a fun filled busy week reading the story of Brown Bear Brown Bear by Eric Carle making their own bear head bands, counting bears, and exploring colour in many different ways. In addition to this they have been very busy watching and enjoying many bucket sessions linked to both the story and the sounds they are learning in their phonics sessions. It has been wonderful to see the children begin to play with each other collaboratively, sharing, laughing and initiating play with each other. In addition to this the children have been working hard with an adult on their individual goals, such as speech and language, maths, mark making and social skills.

Well done Bumblebees, you continue to amaze us every day!

Have a lovely weekend all!

Important information:

Please can we ask that if you have any recycling such as egg boxes, cardboard boxes and milk cartons that you bring these in to school, these will be used to create musical instruments. Thank you in advance.

Also, if your child is going on the trip to the aquarium and they get a taxi that you speak with the taxi company to remind them as we will be leaving promptly once the children arrive.
