Kangaroos are getting ready for Easter!

Our story this week was the Enormous Turnip and Mr Wolf and the Enormous Turnip. The children definitely enjoyed both stories although the version with Mr Wolf was the best! The children thought it was funny especially when Mr Wolf ate the characters that wouldn't help him. At the end of the week the children wrote some fantastic sentences to retell part of the story.

In our Maths this week we have looked at sharing. The children enjoyed listening to the story, 'when the doorbell rang' where the children have to share their cookies each time someone new arrives at the door. The children had the opportunity to problem solve and see which number could not be shared equally. They worked out the answer to the problem so quickly.

Topic this week focussed on how fruit and vegetables grow. The children watched some of the Farm to Fork videos to see how food makes it way into the supermarket. We also looked at some timelapse videos of fruit and vegetables growing. We played a game of where do I grow? and the children had to use their knowledge of where fruit might grow to answer the questions. We also looked at plants that are not safe and could be poisonous to others.

The children have also enjoyed getting ready to celebrate Easter. The children requested to make Easter crowns and cards. The classroom was a hive of crafting throughout the week. Take a look at the pictures to see the children's fabulous art work.

It was lovely to see you all at parents evening to share the children's achievements and we hope you can join us for our Parent Event on the 27th March at 14.30 which will have a phonics focus. Remember to check out our RWI blog for weekly videos to support your child's phonic knowledge:
