Aquarium trip Bees 24/11

Friday 24th November

Wow! What a wonderfully exciting week we have had in Bumblebees this week.

In math's the children have been focusing on 2D shapes, naming them and learning how many sides they have. They have done some fantastic drawings of 2D shapes, having to really think about their properties. In English, the children have continued their work about Penguins, learnt when to use a comma and have put this to good use when planning a non-chronological report all about penguins. In music this week the children have made their own musical instruments, we then had fun trying to use these to follow a beat and making the beat quiet and loud. In science the children looked at how to keep themselves clean and healthy. We did an experiment to see how far germs would spread if we didn't wash our hands and focused on the importance of good hygiene, they had lots of wonderful ideas.

Thursday was an extremely exciting day for our older children as they went to Bristol Aquarium where they met many sea creatures with funny names. They came back to school full of facts and we were so pleased with how much they seemed to enjoy themselves.

For our younger children this week has been all things, 'Jack and the beanstalk.' The children have climbed beanstalks to work on their gross motor skills, made big beanstalks, hens and castles. They have explored texture with a variety of beans, made their very own play dough and enjoyed being giants.

Information

  • Visitor 6th December from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust - This is our youngest children's experience for this term. A letter will go out shortly with more information.
  • PE is on a Monday and a Friday - Please can the children come appropriately dressed on these days for PE.
  • We have many children who have not brought their reading books back to school to change this week. Please can we ask that the books are brought back to school each day as we read these with the children, we can then change their books linked to their phonics learning, thank you.
