Friday 3rd November

We have had a fantastic start to a new term in Bumblebees class, the children have come back to school well rested and ready to learn.

Our older children have started a new history topic this week focusing on Remembrance and the link with poppies, both their significance and why people may wear them. We have linked this with our English lessons learning to tell the story, 'Where the poppies now grow.' They have done some really thoughtful writing and created their own poppy artwork.

As part of our maths learning the children have been focusing on subtraction and how to write calculations from pictures. Some of the children have also been working on the first stages of column addition using pictures. They have worked hard and always enjoy a challenge in maths.

Our younger children had lots of fun this week looking at the story, 'It was a cold dark night.' In this story a little hedgehog is looking for a home. The children enjoyed the story, made their very own hedgehog homes, went for nature walks to discover homes for minibeasts, signs of a change in the weather and made a clay hedgehog, which the children really enjoyed. In addition to this we learnt to count a set of objects from a given amount and looked at how to make a repeated pattern.

Well done Bumblebees class!

Please note a change in the days for PE - indoor PE is on a Monday and outdoor PE is on a Friday. This term our focus will be Hockey.

Have a great weekend!
