Materials and Colour Run for Glow Worms!

What a sunny week it has been! The children have coped well with the heat and were fantastic doing their Colour Run. They all looked very colourful and enjoyed running around the Trim Trail! Please see the photos below.

In maths, we have continued working with money. The children grouped coins and notes into pounds and pence and counted in coins, using our knowledge of 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s. Then, we applied our skills to add amounts and create a 'shop', where we priced up objects from around the room and the items were bought using the correct amount of coins.

We completed our science unit of 'materials' this week. The children have really enjoyed making predictions, testing and recording results. We have found what materials are waterproof and which ones float or sink. Upon finding which ones float, the children made boats out of their selected material. The children concluded the week by sharing their knowledge of materials by creating a two-page mind map.

In PE, the children used their ball controlling skills in an activity using the parachute, they had a competition where one group tried to keep the ball on and the other had to get the ball off. They did a great job and the parachute provided a much needed breeze!

What an amazing week!

NOTE:

Mrs Watts will be taking Glow Worm class on Wednesday morning, with Miss McMillan returning for the afternoon.

On Thursday, we will be going on our trip to Lacock. Please send your child in with a small backpack to carry their lunch, one will be provided but they can bring their own in if they prefer. We will need to keep an eye on the forecast to wear weather appropriate clothing.

Please ensure your child is sent in with a hat as it continues to be nice weather and water is always available with the children's cups so they do not require a water bottle in school.
