New term and new topic for Glow Worms!

This week we welcomed Glow Worm class back for term 4!

We have started a new topic in art, looking at the American artist Georgia O'Keeffe. The children have found it interesting learning facts about her and what inspired her in her art work. We searched outside for nature that inspired us and had a go at sketching it using different thickness of lines. In the next lesson, we used the cross-hatching technique to create shade on a drawing. We used our observation skills to draw a slice of orange. The children did an amazing job at including detail.

In maths, we started looking at the place value of numbers up to 50. We counted up to 50 and then looked at 20, 30, 40 and 50 to see how we could represent them and how many tens they had. We ended the week by partitioning numbers to find how many tens and ones the numbers had.

Finally, in RE, we had a great discussion about how the children thought everything on Earth got here, before focusing on how Christains believe God created the world. We read the creation story and then each group represented each day by representing it using drawings.

What a great start to the new term!
