Performing and Graphs for Leopard Class

First of all, thank you for all of the parents who joined me for Parents Evening on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was lovely to speak to you all and share the amazing learning the children have been doing.

The children started the week by acting out the events of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We are using this story to write a sequel, which involves the character Rosie Red and how she helps the bears to fix the problems Goldilocks caused. The children described her personality and looks, before planning their story.

In maths, the Year 1 children were adding and subtracting numbers within 20, counting on and back.  They used number lines, rekenreks and tens frames to support their understanding.  The Year 2 children were working with tally charts, and creating and interpreting data from pictograms.

The children danced artistically in PE, they created moves that reflected a tissue falling and then combined these moves with the circle movements, shapes and partner work we have done in previous weeks to create a sequence of moves to music.

In science, the children showed their great understanding of life cycles to describe how plants grow. They really challenged themselves to use scientific vocabulary in their work and they did amazing! The children then thought about how plants need water, sunlight and the right temperature to be healthy. We did an experiment to see how plants take in water and transports it to its different parts. Next week, we will see what has happened to our cress experiment!

In Computing, we identified how we could group people by attributes. We played a version of ‘Guess Who?’ to help us identify the different attributes we could use.  The children worked well in their teams once we all got the hang of only asking questions which required a yes or no answer.

On Friday, we had our Easter service at All Saints Church.  Thank you to the parents who joined us to walk to and from the church.  Your help at these events is very much appreciated.  The children's singing was as beautiful as always.
