Delicious repeating patterns!

We have had a fantastic week in Honeybee's Class!

We have continued our learning about Space in our topic 5,4,3,2,1 Blast Off! The children were very excited to be astronauts and travel into space on Tuesday when we had a fantastic space dome visit! We sat in the dome surrounded by stars. We listened to facts about the different planets and also watched how day and night occur and why we see the moon at night. In addition to this we saw real photos taken by the Astronauts who landed on the moon. Leading on from our visit the children created their very own rockets and universe using a range of media.

In math's this week we focused on repeated patterns. The children printed patterns using potatoes and paint, used coloured blocks to continue patterns already given to them and finished the week making repeated pattern fruit kebabs which they then enjoyed for their snack.

As part of the children's writing targets we have continued with name writing and started looking at forming numbers. The children are becoming more confident at holding and using a pencil with accuracy and we are really proud of how well they are all doing.

In English we have really enjoyed our focus book Penguinaut. The character Penguinaut gets lots of encouragement from his friends to build a rocket and zoom off into space. The children then enjoyed making rockets using construction blocks and we saw some great team work to make the biggest rockets together.

Well done Honeybees! Have a lovely weekend.

We look forward to welcoming you on Wednesday afternoon for our parent event at 2.30pm.
