Friday 19th January

What a busy week our Honeybees have had!

We kick started the week with our focus story The Smeds and the Smoos. The children enjoyed looking at all the different planets and aliens in the story and used these for inspiration throughout the week.

The children had great fun making blow aliens, they enjoyed using straws and different coloured paints , adding eyes and arms to make them as wacky as they could, they were fantastic! We then continued the colour theme and looked at what happens when two or three colours are mixed together. The children were brilliant at naming colours.

In addition to this the children made many different colours of playdough this week with the focus being sharing and turn taking. We are beginning to see some fantastic turn taking and sharing and couldn't be prouder of them.

For math's this week we have focused on the term, 'more.' The children worked practically to explore the concept of, 'more.' Activities included picnics with teddies, counting bears and pom poms and for some children the learning moved on from giving, 'more,' to adding one more to a given number to find a new total.

The children have worked hard this week to improve their fine motor skills. They have already worked really hard on making deliberate marks with control. This week they have focused on the first letter of their name. We will continue to work on writing names and learn how to hold a pencil to gain further control.

Well done Honeybees! You continue to make us so proud everyday.

Have a lovely weekend!
