Friday 26th January

Our wonderful Honeybees have had a fantastic week continuing their exploration into space. It has been so wonderful to see the children so enthusiastic and excited to continue their learning.

In our story time sessions we have focused on the children's engagement with the book and characters and extended their learning to asking questions about the characters, where they are and also whether the children enjoyed the story. We have had some fantastic answers and the children's concentration and listening skills are getting better and better, it has also been really encouraging to have children ask to take story time books home.

In our rhyme time sessions the children have grown into super singers this week. Our focus rhyme has been Miss Polly had a Dolly and we revisited 5 Little Speckled Frogs and Five Fat Sausages. The children loved the rhyme Miss Polly had a dolly so much they then decided they would like to open a hospital and doctors surgery. The children made a waiting room, a bed, looked at names of body parts and even took x-rays to check their patients were ok. The children were fantastic doctors and took their roles very seriously.

In our topic learning this week we used Google Earth to show the children Earth from Space. We zoomed in on familiar places, they were so excited and even suggested places to visit of their own such as France and Trowbridge Park.

On a daily basis we focus 1:1 on the children's letter formation and mark making. We have seen children begin to use the Read Write Inc rhymes to help them to form letters correctly and with support begin to hold their pencil with increasing accuracy and control. The children have really enjoyed using not only pencil and paper but flour and sand to make careful marks and letters.

In addition to this we have continued our learning of the concept, 'more,' in our maths learning. For some children this has been counting an amount accurately and adding 1 more and for others this has been adding a range of totals together. They have really grown in confidence with this which is wonderful to see.

Well done Honeybees, another super week! Have a wonderful weekend.
