A super start!

What a wonderful first week back it has been. The children have come back rested and ready for the long term ahead! We had a wonderful new visitor on Monday, Cooper the dog. He will be coming each week for the children to read to. He was a huge hit!

We have started the week with a lovely new History topic and combined this with our English work.  We have been looking at remembrance and the reason behind the poppies. The children have been thinking really deeply about the people who went to war and thought about their own happy memories. They have made some beautiful poppies with writing to match.

As part of our maths work, the Year 1 have been looking at subtraction and how to write calculations from pictures. The Year 2 children have been working on the early stages of column addition using pictures. It is all great fun! As part of our Mastering Number work. We have been looking at different ways to make 10 and recording these.

We are now beginning outdoor PE as swimming has stopped. On a Wednesday and Friday, the children need to come to school in joggers or shorts, a white t-shirt and their school jumper. They need suitable footwear. If your child has earring, please cover these with tape on these days. Have a look at us having our first go at playing hockey! Some of us had to work hard at how we hold the hockey stick. We had a go at passing the ball to each other and dribbling around the cones!

Next Week, Mrs Watts will be in Giraffe Class on Friday.

Have a great weekend.
