Another brilliant week for the Beetles!

Well what a week – the magic has certainly arrived!  Our class Kindness Elf arrived on Thursday and the children all sprinkled her with glitter once they had decided on her name – Tilly Tinsel.  The children excitedly left their Kindness poems with her to read and Tilly Tinsel was very impressed!!

Beetle Class have continued to explore shape this week during maths and have used the 2-D and 3-D shapes to find and count edges, sides, vertices, faces and lines of symmetry.  We have heard lots of mathematical vocabulary being used by the children during their exploration and independent learning.

In Topic we started the week looking at the life cycle of a butterfly.  Again, the children brought Topic to life, taking it in turns to re-enact the life cycle – there was some great wriggly caterpillars and fluttery butterflies. The children also carried out an investigation to see the effects of exercise on our bodies.  We star jumped, ran on the spot, clicked our fingers (this was tricky) and took on a balancing pose to compare the effects.  General consensus was that we got hot, had a faster heart beat and got tired!

We have continued with our balancing skills in PE and the children are particularly enjoying the warm up game of ‘stuck in the mud’ – lots of fantastic teamwork.

We visited the school library on Wednesday and the children all have a book to share at home.  It was lovely to see them looking through books together and excitedly choosing one to take home.  On the note of books - if you have any Book Bag books at home (not including your child’s current book) please return them to school.  Thank you for all your continued support reading with your child.

We have been practising for our Christmas Play, so lots of singing.  If your child has a spoken part, please practice their lines with them if you can but don’t worry if this isn’t possible, as we will make lots time for this in school too.  Costumes (in a named bag please) are due into school by Thursday 8th.  Again, if you are struggling to source any costumes, please do come and see one of the Beetle Class team and we will be more than happy to help you.

There are still some sketch books missing, so if your child’s one is at home please return it and can all homework books be in school next week too so I can ensure Knowledge Organisers are in everyone’s books.  Thank you.

Just a small reminder, all children need a coat and slippers in school, especially as the weather is getting wet and colder.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
