“Arrrrr me hearties”

This week in Wallaby class we have continued our pirate theme and enjoyed listening to the text Night Pirates in drawing club. We designed our own pirates, pirate ship and where the pirates might travel to and then wrote sentences using our phonic knowledge. We have enjoyed discussions about what a pirate is; thinking about what they wear, what treasure they might find, how they travel and we loved dressing up as pirates and learning a pirate dance! We learnt a song called ‘The big ship sails on the ally ally oh’ We also considered what it might be like on a ship at sea as well as the different parts of a boat. We thought about the question ‘do all boats sink?’ We then talked about things that might float or sink and we tested some of these in a tub of water.

In maths we have explored mapping where we looked at different positions of landmarks on a map, including an aerial view of Westbury. We then built our own small worlds / maps with a partner and had to describe different positions of the objects to each other. We finished the week drawing our own maps and what landmarks we see on the way to school. In PE we worked on our ball skills where we focused on dribbling a ball. We worked on our own and with a partner and enjoyed lots of different games!

Another fun packed week in Wallaby class.
