Artistic Meerkats!
What a wonderful week we have had! It was fantastic to see all the children dressed up as a word or in character from their favourite book on World Book Day. They all looked truly amazing!
Talking books, we have been sharing ‘From a tiny seed to a mighty tree’ by Ruth Owens in our English lessons. The children have written instructions for growing both sunflowers and beans. We really have been blown away with the children’s writing and look forward to sharing this with you at the upcoming Parents Evening. They have each, following the instructions, planted their own sunflowers. We look forward to seeing some pictures as they continue to grow at home. We have some beans growing in class too and maybe, if we are really lucky, we might grow a beanstalk!

We have continued our topic of measurement in maths. This week the children were exploring capacity and identifying which container could hold the greatest and least amounts, before ordering containers by the amount they could hold. The Year 2 children also looked at how temperature is measured and practiced reading scales.
Inspired by Henri Rousseau’s painting ‘Surprise’ the children created their own collage using a variety of different medias. They mixed primary colours to create secondary colours and printed leaves, sketched rainforest animals, coloured them using pastels before bringing the whole piece together with a collage leaf and floral background. As the pictures show, Meerkat classroom was a hive of activity this week to create these masterpieces. Enjoy the gallery slideshow!

Reminder, just for this term, we will have outdoor PE on Monday and indoor PE on Tuesday. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days.
