Back with a Bang!

Wow! What a start to the new year. The children have been amazing! They have come back relaxed, rested and more importantly so ready to learn.

We started the week in English firstly looking at the story of The Three Little Pigs. In small groups the children retold the story using puppets and the repetitive language.  This lead us on to looking at our new text The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig. It is very funny and has a huge twist on the book we are all used to! A link to the story can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coWeTT-eOOI

In Maths the Year 1 children have been looking at how to add by counting on. They used number lines to cover over the largest number and add on the smaller number. They had to remember not to count the number they had covered. The Year 2 children looked at making equal and unequal groups and using stems sentences to talk about what they can see.

For Science, we have been looking at lots of different materials and why they are suitable for their purpose. We went on a material hunt outside to see what we could find out. The children we able to use amazing scientific language to talk about the materials properties.

Have a listen to this song…..we have been rapping it in Music! Good luck with it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z2nBYsKeII

PE continues to take place on a Wednesday and Friday. The children will need to come to school in warm clothes and footwear suitable for outdoor games, a white t-shirt and school jumper or cardigan. If trainers have laces, please ensure the children are able to tie these independently. We have started a unit on ball games and throwing and catching. It was a little chilly but we managed to enjoy ourselves.

Next week Mrs Millard will be in class on Thursday. Have a great weekend.
