Busy, Busy, Busy!

What busy Beetles we have been this week!

We have been busy practising for our Christmas Play, the children have all been fantastic learning their parts and knowing where to stand on the stage not to mention the fantastic singing and acting.  Costumes were due into school by Thursday 8th. We have a dress rehearsal on Monday so please have costumes in school by then (in a named bag please).  If anyone is struggling to source any costumes, please do come and see one of the Beetle Class team asap and we will be more than happy to help you.

This week, in our science topic of ‘Who lives on earth and how do they survive?’ we looked at the importance of healthy eating, exercise and good hygiene.  We made eat-well plates to help us understand a balanced diet and thought about all the ways we can stop germs spreading – the children were surprised to see how easy it was for the germs (in this case glitter) to spread just by shaking hands. The children particularly enjoyed the story of Dr. Dog who had to help remind his family about good hygiene.

In maths we continued with our topic of shape and the children made repeating and symmetrical patterns as well as sorting 3-D shapes by their properties.  We were very impressed with the mathematical vocabulary the children used to explain their groupings.

We were busy on Thursday, preparing Christmas arts and crafts and the children showed great teamwork and kindness helping each other and taking turns.  Well done Beetle Class!

There are still some sketch books missing, so if your child’s one is at home please return it before the end of term. Also, can all homework books be in school next week too so I can ensure Knowledge Organisers are in everyone’s books.  Thank you.

Just a small reminder, all children need a coat and slippers in school, especially as the weather is getting wet and colder.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
