Christmas Fun!

Christmas is well and truly here! The Kindness Elves have arrived and are watching us in class, reporting back to Father Christmas! We sprinkled the magic dust over them to welcome them into Giraffe Class.

We have continued our work on Penguins and have written a wonderful set of instructions using imperative (bossy) verbs to help us learn how to look after an egg. The children have been applying all the skills they have learned this term to write clear and accurate sentences. We even practised first by trying to keep an “egg” safe on our feet!

In Maths, we have continued exploring shapes. Early in the week we looked at the 2D shapes that make up 3D shapes. We counted the faces and even tried building some of the shapes ourselves. Later in the week, we moved on to identifying and continuing patterns.

In Geography, we have been learning about weather. We discovered where the equator is and what the climate is like in countries near it. Then we travelled much further afield to explore the weather in the polar regions.

As part of our computing, we have been looking at editing photos. Some of the children have really excelled at this and I’m sure you will agree some of the pictures look amazing.

We have also begun practising for our Christmas performance, including how to get on and off the stage safely. We hope you are looking forward to seeing it! All costumes need to be in school on Monday as we are performing to the Junior School on Tuesday afternoon.
