Coronation Celebration

We have had an amazing week this week in Butterfly class. We have started our new topic, learning about the area we live in, as well as human and physical features.

The highlight of the week has been our coronation day celebration, which we had today. We made lovely collages of the kings outline, and the orb from the crown jewels. We learned lots of things about the crown jewels. Did you know that the crown is so heavy it weighs about 2.5kg! We also had a hot seat activity where some of our children were picked to pretend to be the king, and everyone could ask him questions. We had some lovely questions, like 'What are your dogs' names?', and we looked up the answers for our king to tell us. We learned that the king has 2 dogs called Beth and Bluebell. We also did some lovely colouring and iced some biscuits ready for our street party.

We didn't get to have our street party outside, because it rained alot, but we did have it in our year groups in different places around the school, and the children enjoyed their treats a lot. We ended the day with some playtime outside, and the children all got to take home a special coin. Enjoy the extra long weekend and if you feel like trying to write an acrostic poem using the the letters of the coronation please bring it in to show us next week.
