Coronation celebration for Glow Worms!

This week was a very short one but was enjoyed by all.

We did some work in maths on arrays and doubling to show equal groups and repeated addition. The children hunted around the classroom for the same piece of numicon, before writing a sentence about it.

The highlight of the week was the coronation celebration. We did lots of things to celebrate. First, the children looked amazing as they entered the class as Kings and Queens. We had a class assembly about why we were celebrating and even watched a video from Queen Elizabeth 11's coronation. Before break, we decorated biscuits for the street party and wrote down questions we would ask the King. Then, we had our Scottish dance workshop, which the children really got stuck into!
Year 1 classes each made a coronation treasure. Glow Worm class made the crown using collage materials. Mrs Clay really got stuck in and supported groups of children to complete it. It has turned out amazing!
We made crowns in the afternoon and due to the uncertainty of the weather, we had our street party inside. The children enjoyed the treats. We ended the day with a little play outside and the children took home a very special coin.

Please enjoy the lovely photos we managed to take!

We hope you have a lovely weekend!
