Dressing Up!

Wow! The children really excelled themselves this week when dressing up as a word for World Book Day. It was wonderful to see all the different vocabulary that came to school!

This week we have finished off our instruction writing telling our friend how to plant a sunflower. We spent a long time on them bringing together all of our writing skills and were very proud of how far we have come since starting in Giraffe class in September!

In our Maths work, we have all been looking at capacity, how much the containers hold. We used different things to fill our containers and read the scales.

We have come to the end of our art topic looking at Henri Rousseau and used all of the skills from the block of work to make our final piece. There was collaging, printing and use of pastels. The final pieces are stunning and the children should be very proud of themselves.

In class we are continuing to practise our reading skills, especially the Year 1 children who will be taking their phonics screening test in June. It is great to hear how many of the children are using their sound cards and reading regularly at home. It is certainly showing with their progress in school.

On Friday 22nd March we are walking to church. If you are able to help with this it is greatly appreciated.

Next week…

  • - PE kits worn to school on Wednesday and Friday.
  • - Red Nose Day Friday 15th March – Wear something red and bring a donation.
  • - Mrs Millard in class on Thursday and Friday.
