Thursday Treats and a very creative week…
This week we had lots of fun with our topic ‘cold places’. We have compared the North and South Poles and thought carefully about which animals would live in each of them. We had some polar animal footprints and the children had to guess which animal they belonged to. After they had guessed the animal the children got to make tracks with them in glittery snow. In the creative area the children have learned how to use ‘Brusho’ to create a wash using cold colours and then they used pastels to create a penguin picture on top. Towards the end of the week the children enjoyed creating valentine’s day cards with our student Emily.

In our maths learning this week we have explored the number 7. The children created their own collections of 7. Inspired by the story, ‘Kipper’s toy box’ The children were given a box and seven toys. They played a game where one child hid some toys in the box and some where placed on the outside of the box. The other child had to say how many toys were hiding in the box. In our maths sessions the children enjoyed playing ‘Bunny Ears’. They have to show a way to make a number using their fingers. They are becoming experts in representing numbers to 5 in different ways.

In our story times we have enjoyed the story ‘Lost and found’ The children have thought about friendship and how we can be kind to one another. If you would like to support your child further with their reading skills then why not check out our RWI blog.

On Thursday we had the ultimate treat to reward the children for a great Ofsted judgement. The children got to go to a show by ‘Bubbleman’ and watched in amazement as all different kinds of bubbles were created. Then later in the day the children got to have an ice cream where they chose the toppings. It was a very fun day!
