Friday 10th October
It’s been another busy and exciting week in Bumblebee Class!
In Drawing Club, we’ve been exploring the story Leaf Man. We’ve created our own leaf men through drawing and craft, imagining what adventures they might go on if the wind blew them into the air. The children have been wonderfully creative, writing secret codes that make their leaf men fly, transform into something else, or even help Superman save the day!
We also focused on some new and exciting vocabulary – our Drawing Club Star Words this week were:
⭐ Disappear
⭐ Drift
⭐ Wander
⭐ Float
⭐ Rustle
⭐ Journey
The children have been using these words in their writing and storytelling, bringing their leaf men adventures to life with fantastic language.
We’ve also been getting creative with leaves in other ways – taking leaf rubbings, making leaf silhouettes, and designing beautiful leaf sun catchers to brighten our classroom.
In Maths, some of us have been copying and continuing repeating patterns before having a go at creating our own. Others have been working on adding two numbers together, including exploring doubles. We’ve been using part-whole models, number lines, and a range of different manipulatives to support our learning and deepen our understanding.
For our Art topic, we’ve been introduced to the work of sculptor Andy Goldsworthy, who uses natural materials to create land art. During our trip to Stourhead, we spent time collecting a variety of natural materials to use in our own artwork back at school. We also had the opportunity to explore the beautiful house, admiring the paintings, drawings, and sculptures on display.
A highlight of the trip was definitely the time we spent in the stables, where there were lots of fun, Halloween-themed games to enjoy – including apple shying, throwing hoops onto witches’ hats, and even a broomstick slalom! We finished our visit with some fantastic playtime in the park. It was a truly lovely trip and a great way to round off the week.
Well done, Bumblebees – we’re so proud of all your fantastic work and enthusiasm!
