Friday 11th July - Honeybee Class

Honeybee Class Blog – A Wonderful Week in the Sunshine! 🌞🏴‍☠️

What a fantastic week we've had in Honeybee Class, enjoying the glorious sunshine and keeping cool with lots of water play!

Our focus book this week has been The Pirate Mums by Jodie Lancet-Grant. The children were captivated by Billy’s story and how his amazing pirate mums saved the day during a stormy school trip. This tale sparked lots of excitement and imagination in the classroom!

We’ve been diving into the world of pirates, learning shanties such as A Sailor Went to Sea and When I Was One. The children showed off their brilliant dance moves and really embraced life aboard their pretend pirate ships—there was lots of singing, swaying, and "Ahoy-ing!"

In maths, our focus has been on time. We explored the concept of a day, talked about what we do during the daytime and at night, and began to understand daily routines. Next week, we’ll continue this learning by sequencing familiar events, like getting dressed and brushing our teeth.

We’ve also made the most of the lovely weather by spending time outdoors. The children explored floating and sinking using a variety of objects and materials. They had great fun creating their own seaside settings with tubs, water, sea creatures, and shells—lots of imaginative play and splashing!

Thank you for your continued support. We’re so proud of all the wonderful things the children are doing each day. Well done Honeybees!

Have a lovely weekend!
