Dragonflies have had a very busy week. We had our Class Assembly on Tuesday and we performed a poem called ‘A little Snowman’ and taught the rest of the school a song all about snowflakes. The children were amazing and they should be very proud of their performance.

In our Maths learning this week the children have looked at the parts that make up 5. We played a fun game in our outside area to help us understand this concept. The children threw five beanbags and aimed for a hoop. They needed to say how many went into the hoop, how many went on the outside and how many they had altogether. The children played alongside each other and compared their scores using the language of more and fewer.

Dragonflies Beanbag

On Wednesday, we had PE in the hall. The children had lots of fun pretending to be trains and carriages. We also had a new song to learn called ‘Five Little Puffer Trains’ which the children moved around the hall to.

Dragonflies PE

Today I introduced Helicopter stories to the children. This is a part of the day where the children can tell their own story and their friends get to perform the story.

Here are a couple of the stories from today:

“There was a Knight called Joseph and then a dragon came by. He tried to destroy the Knight. The Knight was hiding his trusty sword and shield behind his back. Then he shows them and scared the dragon away. Then another dragon came by and tried to destroy the knight. He showed his shield and scared the dragon away forever and ever. Then he lived happily ever after.”

“The dragon protected the princess. The knight attacked Zog and also Zog breathed fire at him. The princess said, “Stop that and that was the end. The knight and the princess get married and also the dragon got dead.”

Helicopter Stories

We had great fun performing these stories at the end of the day and I look forward to hearing the children tell their stories over the coming weeks.
