Friday 14th October

This week the children have enjoyed listening to the story, ‘Funnybones’. The children liked predicting what would happen next in the story and joining in with the repeated refrains. When playing in the provision the children had the opportunity to create puppets to retell the story, draw their very own skeleton and even use playdough and loose parts to create a character from the story. Take a look at some of the amazing learning in the photos below…

Dragonflies Funnybones

In our maths learning this week the children have been comparing numbers 1,2,3 through sorting objects into the correctly labelled hoops. The children in their group work compared looked at what numbers hide in three using the numicon shapes. On Tuesday the children used their positional language skills to describe where a teddy bear was hiding. Towards the end of the week the children took part in some learning to explore circles and triangles. They enjoyed finding examples of triangles and circles in the environment. As a challenge the children were encouraged to create a shape picture using the magnetic shapes.

As part of our topic learning this week the children explored what we have inside our bodies. We looked at x-rays to talk about the different bones in our body. Then looked at non-fiction books and models to find out more about how our body works.

Dragonflies All About the Body

All week the children have been learning some harvest themed songs ready to sing at the church. On Friday afternoon, the children enjoyed a visit to the church for a special harvest service. Thank you for the donations. I would also like to say well done to all those children who took part in the colouring competition.

Next week we look forward to continue to learn about ourselves and look at what our favourite things are.
