Wow! We’ve had an amazing and very busy week in Dragonfly class.
We started the week by looking at a book called, ‘Look, What I found at the seaside’. It was an interesting text which shared all the things the children may see at the seaside. The children were excited to share their experiences at the seaside and say what they were looking forward to. The children had the opportunity to create sea creatures from paper plates these will feature on our Seaside display.
In our maths sessions, the children have been learning all about sharing fairly this week. The children have had the opportunity to practice sharing a number of objects into equal groups. A hit with the children was the Numberblocks episode ‘Fair Shares’.
On Wednesday we went on our visit to the beach. We definitely had great weather for the trip and all the children were delighted to paddle in the sea. The children enjoyed digging in the sand and collecting shells, pebbles and seaweed to enhance their creations. It was great to see a few children transform into ‘Sand mermaids’. I would like to thank all the volunteers that came along with us to the beach so that the children could have this amazing experience.

On Thursday, the children started to write Postcards from their beach visit sharing their best memory from their trip. We are seeing some amazing independent writing with the children applying their phonic knowledge.
We had a visitor from the Life Education Centre on Friday. This was an informative session for the children based on their ‘bodies’ and how to stay healthy. The children could talk about how they care for themselves and had the opportunity to discuss how our bodies work. The children enjoyed the workshop and meeting Harold the giraffe.
