Friday 17th June - Millipedes Beach Trip

We have had such a wonderful week in Millipedes Class.

This week we continued our topic on the Seaside, and focused on the book ‘What the ladybird heard at the Seaside’. On Wednesday we went to Boscombe beach, the children had a wonderful time and enjoyed paddling in the water and building sandcastles. To finish the day off we all sat and had an ice lolly on the beach whilst watching a street performer walking the tight rope. Thank you to the volunteers who came along to help us on the trip, we could not have done it without you.

This week we took delivery of some caterpillars, the children talked about what the caterpillars would grow into, and the process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. The children are very keen to see the caterpillars grow into butterflies and have already started to come up with some names for them.

In preparation for sports day next week the children spent some time on Thursday practising some of the races we will be doing. We practised the ‘quoit on the head’ race, running races and the relay race. The children were very keen to participate and picked the races up very easily!

Finally to finish the week we had a visit from Becky from Coram Life Education, the children had a PSHE session ‘All about Me’, they looked at what to eat, how to stay healthy as well as looking at feelings and coming up with ways to help a friend who is down. They were very lucky they also had a visit from Harold the Giraffe.
