Friday 17th March 2023

This week, we had a fantastic visit to the Hope Nature Centre. The children had such an amazing time feeding and petting the animals. We saw some of the cutest sheep and some very greedy goats. Hiding at the back we were lucky to see the Highland cows and they had an adorable calf. After, walking round the animal enclosures, the children stopped for a picnic lunch and then explored the wooden climbing frame.

Dragonflies Hope Nature Centre

In our topic sessions, we have been looking at the difference between Arable and Pastoral farms. The children discovered the different food sources that originated from the farms. We have also been very busy creating some lovely surprises for the children to share with their mum for our Mother’s Day assembly. In our PE sessions, the children have enjoyed exploring the ways different animals would move and act in the jungle. The children have been working on their seated balance skills, jumping and landing whilst pretending to be different animals.

Dragonflies Topic 17th March 2023

Throughout our Maths lessons this week, the children have been exploring the number ten. We made collections of ten and thought carefully about how ten could be represented. The children enjoyed a number blocks episode that changed the song, ‘ten green bottles’. Following the episode, we looked at ordering numbers from 0-10 and 10-0. At the end of the week, the children enjoyed playing a grab game. They worked in pairs to grab a handful of cubes and then compared the amounts they had saying whether they had more or fewer than their friends.
