Friday 18th July
What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in Bumblebee class! This will be our final blog of the year, and we want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support throughout the term.
For those of you who will be moving on to new schools, we wish you all the very best in your new adventures. We hope you’ll pop in to visit us from time to time or send us an email to let us know how you’re getting on—we’d love to hear from you!
For those returning next year, we wish you a lovely summer holiday and look forward to welcoming the children back in September for another fantastic year of learning and fun.
Our week
On Tuesday, we had our final swimming session of the year, and we want to send a big thank you to the wonderful staff at the Swimarium for making each session so enjoyable. It has been fantastic to watch the children grow in confidence throughout the term. Many of them are now confidently swimming around the pool, and some have even been brave enough to dive down and pick things up from the bottom! Their progress and enthusiasm has been wonderful to see. We’re so proud of all the children for their hard work and courage in the water – well done, Bumblebees!
On Wednesday, we had a lovely day in Lacock. We took a leisurely walk around the village, exploring the different buildings and paying special attention to the timber-framed structures and overhanging eaves. This was especially exciting because we related what we saw back to our History lessons on the Great Fire of London, as the houses in Lacock are similar in style to those from that period. It was a fantastic way to bring our learning to life and see history in the real world! Afterwards, we visited the beautiful abbey. In the afternoon, we spent some time at the park, playing football and flying kites. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable day for all.
In our Drawing Club this week, we’ve been reading the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Our star words included emerge, dazzling, ravenous, plump, transformation, scrumptious, succulent, and munching.
We had great fun pretending to be the hungry caterpillar and tasting some of the different foods he munched through. To add to the excitement, we also enjoyed rescuing fruits frozen in a tray full of gloop—a fascinating mix of cornflour and water!
It was a fantastic, hands-on way to bring the story to life and explore sensory play.
Thank you again for being such a wonderful community. Have a great summer, Bumblebees!
