Friday 19th September

The children have had another super week at school. They are now all getting used to the routines of the day.

We have continued with our Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle sessions. This week the children have been making big wiggly movements up and down and side to side. We carried these out to the tune of Venga Boys - We like to party! 

In Maths this week, the children have been exploring matching objects and making sets. We have looked at using language to describe what is the same and different such as "These objects are the same/not the same because…." "These are a set/not a set because..."

This week, in Read Write Inc sessions, we have started to learn the letter sounds "m, a, s, d, t" and the children are learning to orally blend sounds to say words. They are making a good start on these. Any practice that you can do at home using the cards the children received on the home visits would be great. The children have also been practicing the correct formation of the letters.

The children have had great fun this week in PE. On Tuesday we used the large parachute and Thursday we all became pirates exploring moving around the space and developing our jumping skills. 

In our Topic sessions, we are continuing to explore and understand different feelings. As you will see in the photos the children had a go at making different faces to show a range of emotions. We shared the story 'Barbara throws a wobbler' and discussed how sometimes we do feel sad, cross and angry and that's okay and we talked about strategies to help us when we feel like this such as going to the calm corner, taking deep breaths, talking to someone.

In music, we have listened to a piece of music and discussed how it made us feel. We have also clapped along to a beat and sung along to the song 'I'm a little teapot'.

Another super busy week with lots of great learning. Well done Kangaroos!

Please can we ask that all the children's belonging are clearly labelled with their names. It helps us get things back to the rightful owner much quicker.
