Run run as fast as you can you can't catch me....or can you?

This week the children have loved listening to the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'. It all started on Monday when we discovered someone had been baking gingerbread people. We watch the footage of what happened and the children were amazed to see Gingerbread people in the classroom. This inspired us to bake some gingerbread people but set traps so that we could eat them. When retelling the story the children were able to recall key events and joined in with the phrase run, run as fast as you can you can't catch me i'm the gingerbread man.

In our maths this week the children enjoyed watching an episode of Numberblocks. In this episode the Numberblocks created shape outlines by jumping in paint. The children could recognise the different shapes each number made. The children were challenged to think of as many ways as possible they could represent four or five and describe the representation that they had made. At the end of the week we looked at repeating patterns and the children enjoyed playing a game of finish the pattern which you can play by following the link below:

As part of our topic work this week the children have been thinking about animal homes. We gave the children the opportunity to go to the sensory garden and create a home for an animal. We didn't have enough animals to go around so the children had to work as a team and there were some impressive homes built.
