This week the Dragonflies listened to the story, 'My Five Senses' and had the opportunity to investigate each of the senses. On Monday the children went on a senses walk with Rosie our school dog. They had fun exploring the senses garden and stayed quiet so they could listen to all the different sounds on our school grounds.

Dragonflies Senses Walk

The children played 'What's that smell?' They had to work out what smell was in each pot and say whether they liked it or disliked it. To learn about the sense of sight the children played 'Kim's Game' working as a team to say which item had gone missing. Then on Friday the children turned into taste experts tasting different foods. The children also found out about taste buds and how they help to taste the flavours of different foods.

Dragonflies 5 senses Investigation

In our Maths work this week the children have been continuing their understanding of First, Then, Now by looking at subtraction problems. The children played a game of pass it on which helped the children to use the language as they lost and gained counters.

In our Creative activities this week the children looked at the skill of printing and had the opportunity to print with a range of fruits and vegetables. Towards the end of the week the children used play dough to create their own potato heads that contained the five senses.
