Friday 20th May - Using our senses.

Another week flies by and the children in Millipedes class are continuing to work hard. This week we have been celebrated for having the best class attendance in the school. Well done Millipedes.

This week we have been learning about our senses. We have read the book 'My five senses'. We have been writing about our senses and had a table full of different things to touch, smell, taste and look at. The children then wrote wonderful sentences about what they had tasted, seen, smelt, heard and touched. We also spent some time outside seeing what we could hear too. The children really enjoyed thinking about their senses. We also drew a person and the children were able to match the body part to each of the senses.

This week we continued to be creative, the children used a range of different vegetables to experiment different ways to paint, some children made patterns with the vegetables. We continued to use the powder paint and started looking at colour mixing and secondary colours. The children also took time to smell and draw a bunch of tulips, they put lots of care, attention and detail into their drawings.

This week in Maths we have been looking at takeaway, and using our tens frames to help with our learning. We watched the Number blocks episode called Ten green bottles which introduced the children to the concept of takeaway, taking away 1 at a time. Have a watch with your child and I'm sure they will be able to tell you some wonderful number sentences.

I look forward to another wonderful week next week.
