Welcome Back!

It was a delight to welcome back the children on Monday and find out about their holidays. The children enjoyed painting and drawing their favourite things that happened in the holidays.

We started our new topic all about our local area. The children enjoyed exploring where they lived using Google Earth and we had the opportunity to visit some houses virtually. We listened to the story, ‘Me on a map’.  The children were curious to find out where Westbury was located so we spent time exploring different places on the map. Following the story, the children started to create some of their very own maps. The children have mapped out their bedrooms, their favourite places and even maps for different emergency services to follow.

In our Maths, this week the children have amazed me with their knowledge of doubling. We have played lots of fun games to practice our doubling skills. The children enjoyed listening to the story ‘Two of everything’ where there was a magic pot that doubled everything including the people that fell into it. The children competed in a challenge to see who could roll the most doubles on a dice and the first to three was the winner. At the end of the week it was evident to see that the children could recall their double numbers without any equipment. Well done Dragonflies!!

We have had a brilliant but tiring first week back and I look forward to completing more exciting topic work with the children next week. We are hoping to get out and about for a walk in the local area on a Friday if you would be happy to support us on a walk then please let me know. We will confirm the date if we have any willing volunteers.

Hope you have a lovely and restful weekend.
